3ub is a home power technology that should make adding solar panels and other power generators to a home as easy as plugging in a store bought appliance. Unlike traditional home power installations, 3ub enabled components should provide for plug and play connection to the grid without permits.
This 10 minute explains the basics of how the system works:
Replace an existing circuit breaker (perhaps your main circuit breaker) with a 3ub enabled circuit breaker. The 3ub circuit breaker provides all the protections required by the utility company that provides power from the electrical grid.
Go to the store and buy a 3ub enabled power generation device (ie. solar panel) and plug it into the 3ub protected circuit. The solar panel will receive permission from the circuit breaker allowing them to generate power. When it is safe to do so, the 3ub circuit breaker also lets excess power flow back into the grid.

On March 4th, 2010 the patent application was published and assigned Publication No. US-2010-0052429-A1.
As of February 22nd, 2010, the patent application was accepted into the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Green Technology Pilot Program.
